Tai Chi Chuan is a slow moving exercise for those individuals who wish to practice a less strenuous exercise program. It improves balance, tones the body, promotes longevity and helps the student relax and release stress and tension. Tai Chi has been used in China to cure numerous illnesses.

Is Tai Chi for everyone?

Yes, Tai Chi is for everyone, no matter their age, physical or mental state of health. The soft flowing movements of Tai Chi Chuan help people of all ages, young and old alike to improve their physical condition, decrease fatigue and develop endurance. Since the movements are done very slowly, this form of exercise is more appealing to the older and more mature adults. Tai Chi is particularly beneficial to seniors as it is relaxing, non-strenuous, helps to increase circulation and balance and requires very little effort.

What are the benefits of Tai Chi?

This ancient exercise has been used for numerous health conditions such as: nervous tension, rheumatism, ulcers, high blood pressure, poor circulation, loss of mobility in the joints and various arthritic symptoms.

Tai Chi Chuan increases the cardio-vascular system, increasing the circulation of blood and oxygen to all parts of the body. The combination of turning, stretching and twisting movements work to release tension and allows every part of the body to be exercised without strain. 

Concentration, coordination, flexibility and balance will improve gradually over a period of time. Leading the student to a more relaxed and stress free life.

When properly performed, it revives, revitalizes and in time with proper practice rejuvenates every cell in the human body, Thus, it is possible to restore a sick body or improper mental attitude to proper health again.

Tai Chi as Self Defense.

The Tai Chi Chuan movements are all based upon various self defense techniques practiced in China. Even though they are done very slowly, they are still based on martial arts techniques. Eventually, after the student has practiced the initial solo form, they will then begin to learn the "pushing hands" exercise. This will help to deepen the understanding of the self defense techniques and applications of the Tai Chi Chuan movements.

Tai Chi Chuan also includes a number of weapons, including straight sword, broadsword, stick and fan. These are learned after the initial Tai Chi Chuan movements are completed. 

Good health is a state of mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Through the daily practice of Tai Chi Chuan, this state of good health becomes more and more within reach. By practicing the deliberately even, slow, continuos and well-balanced movements regularly. One finds the flowing nature of the movements to be conducive to a sense of tranquility and a form of grace that other exercises do not incorporate. Through there regulations of blood and the mobilization of the joints, ligaments and muscles. Tai Chi Chuan helps to increase the respiratory capacity, to stimulate and stabilize the nervous system and to improve the functioning of all the organs.
